My tags¶
Tags are your own labels for recipes, such as 🎂 Birthdays, To try or Kids love it. You can put them on any recipe you can open, yours or someone else's. Only you can see them: other users never see your tags, and you never see theirs.
Each tag has a name, an optional emoji and a color, and shows up as a colored pill with that emoji and name.
Note
Tags need an account. The My tags card, the My tags filter and the pills on recipe cards only appear when you're logged in.
Tag a recipe¶
On a recipe page, the My tags card sits below the recipe, above Add to planner:
- Click in Add a tag... and pick one of your tags from the list. It's saved right away.
- To create a new tag, type its name and press Enter (Press Enter to create this tag). It gets the gray color and no emoji; change them later on the My tags page.
- Click a pill's × to remove that tag from the recipe. The tag itself is kept.
Similar tags¶
Before creating a tag, Cocotte checks whether you already have one that looks the same: same name with different accents or case, a plural, a typo, or one name contained in the other (for example pates, Pâtes and Pâtes fraîches). If so, it shows Similar tags already exist: followed by those tags:
- click one of them to put that tag on the recipe instead,
- or click Create "…" anyway if you really want a new, separate tag,
- or Cancel.
If you type the exact name of a tag you already have, in any case, that tag is used and no new one is created.
Manage your tags¶
Open the account menu (top right) and click My tags, or click Manage my tags on a recipe page. The page lists all your tags, alphabetically, each with its number of recipes.
- New tag opens a form with a Name, an optional Emoji and a Color (gray, red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, purple or pink). A Preview shows the pill as it will look. As you type the name, Similar tags already exist: lists any close match; click one to close the form and highlight that existing tag in the list.
- Edit opens the same form to rename a tag, or change its emoji or color. The change shows up on every recipe that has the tag.
- The bin button deletes a tag after confirmation. It's removed from all your recipes, but the recipes themselves are not changed.
- Click a tag's recipe count (for example 3 recipes) to open the recipe list filtered on that tag.
Two of your tags can't have the same name, in any case: you get You already have a tag with this name.
Find your tagged recipes¶
The recipe list and the random recipe have a My tags filter (shown once you have at least one tag). Pick tags in To try, Birthdays...: the list shows recipes with at least one of them. See Filter the list.
On the recipe list, your tags also show as colored pills on each recipe card.
